Our Mission

Mission, Vision, and Core Values

Mission Statement: The AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland provides a compassionate and collaborative response to the needs of people infected, affected and at risk of HIV/AIDS.  This is accomplished through leadership in prevention, education, supportive services and advocacy.

Vision Statement: The ATGC is the community leader in providing or facilitating effective HIV/AIDS services, prevention education, and advocacy.  This is accomplished through a combination of training, resource coordination, capacity building, and the collaborative participation of consumers, funders, social service professionals, volunteers, government, and other constituents.

Core Values Statement: The ATGC will carry out its mission in a consistent and caring manner, and will strive to be a stable and focused force for the people it exists to serve through optimal performance and service excellence.

The ATGC is guided by principles that epitomize effective nonprofit management and client-centered outcomes for people living with/affected by HIV/AIDS.  They include the following:

Service to people living with and at risk of HIV infection will always be our highest priority.  Services provided by the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland are designed to promote optimal independence, self-reliance, health, and well-being, in a manner that respects a diversity of cultures and identities, and that upholds the inherent dignity of every individual.

Transparency informs all aspects of operations and financial management of the organization.  As an agency providing services to all the residents of NE Ohio, we strive to make accessible all allowable information about the organization, its programs and services, and its administration.

Accountability to the general public and to our specific constituents is a fundamental watchword of agency management.  We believe that every interested party – service consumers, funders, the public sectors, individual donors, and others – have the right to know how their dollars are spent, how their contributions are managed, how their input is utilized, and how services are implemented.

Efficiency is a natural consequence of accountability.  Contributors to our mission have the right to be assured that their contributions are being utilized efficiently.  The ATGC regularly reviews all costs and implements cost-saving measures that will not compromise core services.

Leadership and Innovation.  As Ohio’s oldest and largest AIDS service organization, the ATGC has a responsibility to provide leadership, and to implement innovative, research-driven approaches to HIV/AIDS.  Accordingly, the ATGC develops programming with widespread impact, and is viewed as a careful innovator of new ideas and strategies for combating AIDS.

Our mission, vision and core values guide a wide array of targeted programs designed to improve the quality of life for people living with and affected by HIV.
