Northeast Ohio World AIDS Day 2012

World AIDS Day is observed every year on December 1st and has become one the most recognized international health days. In Northeast Ohio on November 30th through December 1st, 2012, the HIV/AIDS community is uniting with government, businesses, media and the arts community to raise awareness, support those living with the virus, and remember those who have passed on.

Monday, November 26th, 2012
Cleveland City Council presents World AIDS Day proclamation.

Friday, November 30th, 2012
5:30 PM – Gather at Cleveland City Hall (601 Lakeside Avenue)
6:00 PM – Dignitaries speak on the steps of Cleveland City Hall
6:15 PM – Candlelight march step-off from steps of Cleveland City Hall and process to Tower City Center (230 W. Huron Road)
6:30 – 7:00PM – World AIDS Day Program at the Grand Staircase in Tower City Center

7:30 PM – 2:00 AM RED PARTY – Red Party in Honor of World AIDS Day at the Mean Bull Nightclub.

Saturday, December 1st, 2012
12:00 Midnight – Terminal Tower is lit in red in recognition of World AIDS Day until December 2nd.
Noon – Memorial Event at Franklin Circle Christian Church, 1688 Fulton Rd, Cleveland (Ohio City), with worship, lunch and presentations.
7:00 -7:07PM – Terminal Tower and all lights turn off. We invite individuals to join those around the world in turning off their lights in their homes and businesses to remember those we have lost to HIV/AIDS. Seven minutes signifies the seven continents of the world, reminding us that HIV/AIDS is a disease that affects everyone.

Horseshoe Casino – All staff at casino will be wearing red ribbons and the casino’s electronic billboard will be promoting HIV/AIDS awareness.

Sunday, December 2nd, 2012
2:00 PM – Memorial Event at First Grace United Church of Christ, Akron (Highland Square), with dinner, HIV/STD testing.

Monday, December 3rd, 2012
5:00 PM – Patient and Community Forum at CWRU, by AIDS Clinical Trials Unit, with food, info table, presentations & reception.
