Anonymous Donor Wants to Raise Awareness for the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland

Cleveland, OH – Art lovers from all over Cleveland will gather at the Cleveland Masonic Auditorium on Saturday, May 16th for ArtCares 2015, the annual auction and party to benefit the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland. ArtCares 2015 is being presented through the generosity of AIDS Healthcare Foundation and Toby Devan Lewis with support from Consolidated Graphics Group.

Through the generosity of an anonymous donor, the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland is pleased to announce that we are able to offer a limited number of complimentary tickets to this year’s event. The donor, who is making their contribution in honor of John Farina, this year’s ArtCares Icon, would like as many people in the community as possible to come together in celebration of the great work of the Taskforce that Mr. Farina has so passionately supported for so many years. These tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis by contacting Rebecca Murray-Strong at 216-621-0766 ext. 2915.

John Farina has long been committed to the work of the Taskforce and has twice served on the agency’s staff. He has served in numerous volunteer roles at the Taskforce as well, including as a chair of ArtCares in 2011. Farina currently serves as the Executive Director of ARTneo – the museum of Northeast Ohio art, co-owns a gallery in the Waterloo Arts District (with his fiancé Adam Tully) and is the Arts & Culture Coordinator for the renewal of the levy that supports Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. He most recently completed a four-year term as President of the Board of Directors for SPACES, and has been involved in a long list of organizations, events, and political efforts over his more than 24 years in Cleveland.

“I am very humbled by this special contribution and am very excited that we will be able to open this great event up to the community in this way,” says Farina, “with so many new and important developments at the Taskforce – such as the introduction of a new pharmacy and clinic – this is a fun opportunity for everyone to learn about and support them.”

The centerpiece of ArtCares remains the auction of art generously donated by professional artists living in, or with connections to, Northeast Ohio. This year will again feature a special exhibition of specially created work curated by local artist and curator, Kristin Rogers.

This year’s party features entertainment by Hot Djang and DJ Saint.

ArtCares is the signature fundraising event for the AIDS Taskforce, an affiliate of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which serves individuals and families infected, affected and at-risk for HIV/AIDS. The event is supported through the generosity of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Toby Devan Lewis, Nordstrom, The Adcom Group, Fresh Brewed Tees, James Douglas Studio, Medical Mutual of Ohio, and Cleveland Whiskey Proceeds help provide services such as counseling and case management, educational programs for adults and youth at risk, housing, public policy and advocacy and a food pantry that provides much-needed help for a community in which illness often coincides with poverty.

The event begins at 7:30 pm on Saturday, May 16. Complimentary tickets are available as long as supplies last and can be purchased for $50 per person once that happens. Tickets and more information are available by calling the taskforce at 216-621-0766, extension 2915 or by visiting www.aidstaskforce.org.
